Book: The Truth About Forever
Author: Sarah Dessen

Recommendation: This book is from a girls point of view, but that doesn't mean a guy couldn't read it. When reading this book, you see life in many different ways through the various characters and it is an eye opening experience because you start to think of things in ways you hadn't before. So anyone could read it, although it may appear as just a girl's book.
Summary: This is the story of a girl, Macy, who lives with just her mother. Her father had passed away recently and her sister gone and married, and her life is greatly affected by the recent passing of her father. She goes through life being "fine, just fine" but on the inside she is really not. She has the perfect boyfriend, he is extremely smart, talented, charitable, the perfect student. Their lives revolve around each other, so when he leaves for the summer to go to a "Brain Camp" she is left friendless and lonely. She takes over his job at the library for him and she finds that she hates it. Left only with her workaholic mom, one day she meets a group of caters who ask her if she wants to work with them, but she knows that her mom probably wouldn't approve. Eventually she does join the caters, and finds happiness in the chaotic business. It is such a change from her old perfect life that it is scary at first, but in the end it turns out to change her for the better. This book explores change, love, and the importance of accepting them both. Sometimes it may be hard to change, but it's the way it has to be in order to find happiness.
Explanation of Rating: This is a book that lets you see life in a different way than maybe you saw it before. Its compelling story keeps you guessing and keeps you turning pages. This book about modern teens striving to find happiness in their lives and finding motivation to change for the better, is very motivational. It is easy to relate to the characters and the situations that they are in. It shows that sometime change can be hard and it may not feel right to us at first, but change really can be good. It is important to realize that in all our lives.
Favorite Passage: "They honestly seemed to think that things would just work out. And the weirdest thing was, they did. Somehow. Eventually. Although I was standing right there I couldn't say how."
This is my favorite passage because it is so true. Sometimes we feel like things will never work out, or everything is going wrong. But eventually things really will work out. Not always in the way we want them to of course, but the do eventually work out.
