Recommendation: this book is good for any fiction lovers or even any one who likes a little bit of romance,but just a little bit. This book takes place in the future that goes through many changes. you will be so addicted to the adventure that takes place in this book as well you will not be able to put it down at the end of the day.

summary: This book is the second book in a series of 4 books. This book takes place in the far future where all of the world goes through many changes. the lead charecter Tally Youngblood just turned 16 and in the time that they live in when you turn 16 you get to turn into a young pretty. You get to have an opperation that turns you from an ugly to a pretty. In the first book young tally learns that when uglies get the opperation from ugly to pretty they put a lession on their brain so that all the pretties in the town will just be bubbleheads. in the beginging of the book Tally gets the surgery and forgets everything about her ugly days and she is very content with the way things are going for her as a pretty, and then she finds a good boyfriend who is perfect for her. Tally totally forgot about the lessions until one day when one of her old ugly friends brings her the cure for the lessions, Tally and her boyfriend take the cure together so that they can both remember their ugly days and so that they can help all the other pretties. when they get more pretties to kind of remember their old days as uglies they all decide to escape into the wilderness so they can find their friends who brought them the cure so they can give it to everyone.

explanation of rating: This book can satisfy so many differant tastes of books, it has a little bit of everything in it. there are some parts in it that can get a little bit boring if you have a short attention span, but for the most part it will captivate almost anyone. you sould probley read the first book of the series to really get this book if you just dive into the second book you will be lost beyond beleif. if you are a very serious person as well you might not enjoy this book or series. i liked the way it realy showed the way a real teenage mind how they can get confused about what they want to do and what is right to do.All around it was a very interesting book though Westerfeld really did an extrordanary job with it.

favorite passage: " Getting to close to other pretties could be overwhelming when you were brand new. it took time to get used to all the gorgous faces, the perfect bodies, the luminous eyes. when everyone was beautiful, you could wind up falling in love with the first pretty you kissed."- chapter 5

I really like this passage because it kind of shows the teenage mind in the past presant and future. It is really hard not to fall in love with the first person you kiss, and you need to be careful.
