Name: Maria Gomez
Class: A4
Book: Trouble Follows
Author: Monica Mckayhan
Pages: 249
Rating: *****

Recommendation: This book is great for those who love the real world drama. When i started reading this book, I just had to finish it since it was so interesting. I really like this book, it was amazing, and it was like no other. It seriously had me in suspense and it kept me wanting to read it. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down.

Summary: It all starts when 15 year old Jade is moving back to Atlanta. When her parents divorced Jade moved to New Jersey with her mother and sister to live with her grandmother. Jade really hated to live in New Jersey so she decided to start acting out in school, so her mother would decide to send her back to her father to get straighten out. She is really happy to move back so she could be with her best friend Indigo again. Indigo is on the High School Dance Team and has a great boyfriend named Marcus. This novel is basically between these three characters. Of course this book has conflicts as well as other books, Jade comes face to face with a teacher who abuses his position and touches her inappropriately. To keep her weight for the dance team, Indigo develops an eating disorder. Marcus is a straight A student that has a job and plans for his future. However the police is trying to accuse him for something he never did. Monica reminds us that you should always get back up whenever you fall.

Explanation of Rating: This is a book full of truth. These cases are always seen. I love this book and how it talks about that you should always be strong and be willing to get back up when you fall. That's basically what this book talks about. It mostly says that everyone has problems they need to face and you that you should always find the best way out.

Favorite Passage: My favorite passage is when it talks about Indigo getting an eating disorder because she was trying to keep her weight in order to stay in the school dance team. I love this line because you still hear that black girls don’t do eating disorders.
