Sniper A4

Name: Caleb Worthen
Class Period: A4
Book Title: Sniper
Author: Theodore Taylor
Pages: 227
Rating:***

This book is for people who like animals or have strong relationships with other people. It is not for people who can't stand animals being killed and who don't like reading about relationships that are developing.

This book is about a kid named Ben whose parents are famous for the documentaries that they have done on lions and other wild cats. He thinks that parents don't care about him because they had him before they were married and his mom seems to always be disappointed with him. They live in southern California on a preserve for big cats. At the beginning of the book his parents leave California to go do a documentary in Africa about lions and they give Ben the responsibility of taking care of the preserve while they are gone. While ben is alone one night someone shoots two of ben's favorite lions. The killer later returns to kill another one of ben's favorite lions. The rest of the book is about how he trys to find out who the killer is and what his motive is. He has the help of many of his close friends and co-workers on the preserve.

I chose to give this book a three star rating. This book can be pretty exciting at times. It is also a very easy read. The author is a well known author of many great books. some of the plot is missing I think, and it is pretty cheesy.

"The animals were quiet. Maybe in there own way they knew the danger was over"
This passage is interesting because it shows that animals have a sense of when they are in danger and when they are safe.
