Recommendation: I recommend this book to any mystery and fantasy lovers.

Summary: This book is about 4 kids who have a club called The Grey Griffins. They live in a very boring simple town; the only thing that is out of the ordinary is Max Sumner (Main character) the richest kid in the town. The 4 griffins start to see weird things and they are the only people that seem to see them. The only thing that seems to put the wired creatures they see together is a card game they play and that game happens to have all the creatures they see in it. The Shadow King is out looking for a magic book that Max has found, and he is not willing to give it up. The creatures are out destroying the town and the Grey Griffins have to stop them by going to the catacombs. In the catacombs the Griffins have to pass many different tests. Do the Grey Griffins manage to save their little town?

Explanation of the rating: I never in my life liked a book I always hated them until I read this one. This is because in the first couple of pages I read has so much detail. The book was so interesting I always wanted to keep reading to find out what was next.

Favorite Passage: Saturday morning came slowly as the first ray of sunlight peeked through the tree house window. Max lay bundled in a heap of sweaters and blankets. It had been a last-ditch attempt to fight off the night’s frosty grasp.

I love this passage because there is so much detail.
