Recommendation: This book is great for anyone! Don’t give up on it because it’s another vampire book! This was written before other recent popular vampire books (wink, wink). This book is great for anyone who wants a great romance with intense action sequences and suspense that keeps you up all night reading! The intense ending leaves you hanging and dying for the next book in the series!

Summary: Elena Gilbert is the typical gorgeous, popular girl at her high school. Since her parents death things just haven’t been the same. On the first day of school a mysterious, dark, and insanely handsome boy moves into town. Stefan Salvatore. A vampire. He seems to be the only one who can resist Elena. Not having a clue of his secret, determined with pride and infatuation, Elena stops at nothing to make him hers. But strange things have been happening in town that leaves everyone confused and scared. And everyone is pointing fingers at Stefan. But what Elena doesn’t know is Stefan is secretly longing to have her also. And he is not the only one either. Stefan’s brother Damon is back in town also, but no one knows who he is. He is also entranced by Elena and swears she will be his too. But the past seems to be repeating itself, when the brothers fell in love with the same girl hundreds of years ago. Katherine. Stefan doesn’t know if he can love again, but at the same time he can’t bare to be away from Elena. And how can he protect her from his dangerous brother? Elena always gets what she wants, and she will stop at nothing until she has it. Read the first book of this amazing and intense series. And the new definition of forbidden love…

Explanation of Rating: This book was written in 1991 before a lot of other vampire books. The story has an amazing plot that keeps you guessing and dying to know what happens next. It has a love that makes every reader jealous! And the intense and graphic action scenes make it so both boy and girl can read!

Favorite Passage: His voice was hushed, muffled in her hair. “Oh Elena, I believe it. Whatever happens, we’ll be together.” -Chapter 14

I love this passage because it’s such a tender and awesome part in the book. I don’t want to give anything away, but Elena and Stefan go through so much together, and every time I think they find it harder and harder to stay together, which makes it even more amazing and romantic. Their amazing bond is unbreakable and incredible! This line enters your mind throughout the entire series. I love it!
