Name: Melissa Littlefield
Class Period: A3
Book Title: Lovely Bones
Author: Alice Sebold
Pages: 328
Rating:****

Recommendation: People who like books with suspense should read Lovely Bones. People who are in highschool and older should read this because there are some inapropriate parts. Overall the book is full of mystery, sorrow, and love. This book would be great for people who are deep, and thoughtful.

Summary: Lovely bones is about a girl who gets murdered. She find herself in place which she calls heaven. While she is in heaven she watches her family. This book is about her how her family and friends lives change after her death. Her family, and police throughout the book try and figure out who killed her. The girl watches everyone move on and get older, while her case goes no where. Her family gets torn apart. Her father, and sister take the case into their own hands. The do almost everything to catch, and find the murderer.

Explanation of Rating: I gave this book 4 stars because it really is a touching book. It's full of sorrow, and hope. This book is about love, memory, joy, heaven and healing. When you read this book you have a strange and memorable experience. It's painfully funny, and terribly sad. You feel so many emotions while reading this book. I made a huge connectiong with the book, and so can many people. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because there were some chapters that were pointless to the book.

Favorite Passage:
"I saw now the town of floating graves, cold and whipped by winds, where the victims of murder went in the minds of living.
Flore Hernandez. Delaware, 1963. Eight.
Leah Fox. Delaware, 1969. Twelve.
Sophie Chicetti, Pemmsylvania, 1960. Forty-nine.
Leidia Johnson. 1960. Six.
Jackie Meyer. Delaware, 1967. Thirteen."

This is my favorite passage because it shows how deep, and sorrowful the book really is. It shows the importance of her murder case. She doesn't want her murder to be figured out just for her and her families sake, but for all these people.
