Class Period: B4
Book Title: Beastly
Author: Alex Flinn
Pages: 304
Rating: ****
Recommendation: Those who love cheesy love stories will adore this book. It's a modernized, retold story of the classic The Beauty and The Beast, but from the Beast's point of view. It's as cheesy as it gets, but a super cute, new love story.
Summary: A popular boy, who is full of himself, is changed into a monster by a witch. She gives him two years to change back. He must fall in love with someone, and kiss them, before the two years is up. If he fails to kiss her, he will be a beast forever. The boy's father leaves him alone in a big house with a maid and a personal tutor. He becomes close friends to both of them. Then a man robs his house. The boy threatens to kill him unless he brings him something of worth. The man brings his daughter because he really doesn't love her. She comes to live (and hopefully fall in love with) the boy. The girl slowly becomes friends with the boy.
Explanation of Rating: I gave this book 4 stars because i love cute, cheesy love stories. I also love good twist's on wonderful classic stories. I think different is good. It is definitely one of my favorites.
Favorite Passage: I liked the part when he is talking about changing his name. It's so intense and he is so serious. He feels like there is no more hope, like nothing can be done, so he changes his name.
