All's fair in love, war, and high school
Janette Rallison
pages: 183
Rating: ***** It was Amazing!
Recommendation: I think any teenage girl would enjoy this book. It's a fun book to read, and most girls can relate to some of the stuff that happens in the book. It really talks about the reality high school drama that happens. Boys.. I really don't think this is the type of book you would enjoy. It's definitely too girly for you.
Summary: This book is about Sixteen-year-old Samantha Taylor who is use to having things go her way. She’s the head cheerleader and has popular friends and a steady stream of boyfriends. But than she fails the SATS, her dreams about going to college don’t seem to be so realistic anymore. She believes that her only hope for college admission is to win the election for student body president. However, with her attitude she's better at giving insults than winning votes. She makes a bet with her classmate Logan that she can go two weeks without saying a single insult. And when her current boyfriend dumps her, less than three weeks before the prom, it couldn’t be a worse time to be forced to keep her opinions to herself. Finding a new boyfriend will be a challenge now that Logan follows her every move, hoping to catch her giving an insult. Samantha is determined to win the election and find a dream date for the prom, no matter what it takes.
Explanation: This is a really good book, it has humor to it. Janette Rallison always writes good books. Girls can relate to this book really easily. Like finding a date for prom, because all girls want to experience going to prom. And almost all teenagers will go through a break up, and they know how hard it can be sometimes. And they have felt the pressure of passing the SATS, so they can go to college. I believe its a great book to read. Once you read it, you won't be able to stop, that's how good it is.

Sniper B3
Name: Seth Worthen
Class Period: B3
Book Title: Sniper
Author: Theodore Taylor
Pages: 240
Rating: ***
Recommendation: I would recommend this book to all animal lovers or haters. If you like mysteries than you would probably like this book. Don't read this book if you can't stand reading about animals dying.
Summary: This book is about a family that has lions on their preserve. The parents go away to Africa to do a documentary. They leave their son, Ben, at home with some other helpers to take care of the lions. One morning, Ben comes out of the house and sees two lions dead. Ben immediately thinks that it is a neighbor trying to get them off the territory. The cops get alerted and they try to help. Ben tries to cover the lions so that the sniper can't kill any more, will it work? Who did it? Read the book to find out!
Explanation of rating: I rated it a three star because I think it is a good book. It is well written, and is a real hooking book. I have read other books that have been better. For example, I have read Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl which have been in my eyes a lot better than Sniper. I have also read worse books. Like City of Ember and others like it. So I rated Sniper in the middle.
Favorite Passage: "Arson. Deliberately set. Richie, Ben immediately thought. Had he gone insane?" - page 144
I really like this passage because it makes you believe that Richie is the one that is killing all of the cats. It also tells you what Ben is thinking...it is also the passage that explains the most about what is going on!

Book Title: A Child Called It
Author: Dave Pelzer
Pages: 153
Rating: *****It was Amazing
Recommendation: This book is very sad and shocking. The thing that makes it more shocking is that it's a real story. He does get rescued so the whole book isn't sad.
Summary: This is the story of Dave Pelzer. He tells the story about living with his abusive alcoholic mother. She played games that nearly killed him. She made him sleep in the basement and an army cot as his bed. She make hem wear the same clothes everyday that were torn and smelled bad. She starved hem for days. When she did feed him, he had to eat his brother’s leftover scraps or rotten food that even the dogs wouldn't eat. He even resorted to stealing other kid’s lunches and eating out of the garbage.
Explanation of Rating: This book is a reality check to people that things like this really do happen. He stayed strong and survived despite his mother’s cruel actions.
Favorite Passage: A few miles later, we are on highway 280, heading towards the outskirts of Daly City. I look to my right and see a sign that reads “THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HIGHWAY IN THE WORLD.’ The officer smiles with relief, as we leave the city limits. “David Pelzer,” he says, “you’re free.”
I liked that passage because that’s when he realizes that he doesn’t have to put up with his mother’s abuse anymore.

This was a great book. It marks how we make money by putting stock into gold. A great read if you understand satire and can laugh at human nature, and if you love fantacy.
Redesigner of the Anhk-Morpork Post Office, Moist von Lipwig, has been asked to redesign the Royal Mint. As he attempts to create a better mint, He is confronted by a clerk that seems to be a vampire, a crazy son of the former head of the Mint, and as always, followed by a female golem whos sandwhiches are always razor thin. Delivered by Pratchetts wit, humor, and unique style of writing, this book gives the illusion of gold whats coming to it.
i rate this book 5 stars because it makes me laugh, it lets me think. it shows our dependance on money. it makes fun of human nature. just all in all a great book. he has writen so many books that he knows what to do.
"would you like a Back rub?" Gladys the golem
this always makes me laugh because golems are beyond strong, and what happens after is to hilarious to even begin to discribe.

Recommendation: This book is perfect for any classic novel fan, or just anyone who loves a good romance. This is a charming novel about love, heart break, and social triumphs in England during the 1800's. The language is difficult to understand in parts, but far from impossible for a committed reader.
Summary: Anne Elliot is the middle daughter of prominent social figure Sir Walter Elliot, a proud vain Widower who is an over zealous spender. When he outspends the family's means they are forced to rent out the family estate and move to a more meager style of life in Bath. The new tenants of the family estate just happen to be relatives to the man Anne is in love with, Captain Wentworth. They were engaged eight years previous, but it was broken off when Lady Russel, a close family friend persuaded Anne that it would be a bad social match. With Captain Wentworth back in town, a much richer man than he had been eight years earlier, as well as having a possible engagement to another girl looming on the horizon,Anne has to deal with some complex emotions.
Explanation of rating: I gave this book 4 stars. It was a really fun read, it was funny and touching. I really liked this book, it shows so much human emotion, something that Jane Austin seems to understand very well. Mostly about love, and marriage, this book also shows the struggle, and triumph that many people had trying to rise up in the hierarchical society in which they lived. However it was not as much of a page turner, and was a fairly predictable, happily ever after tale.
Favorite passage:
"One man's ways may be as good as another's, but we all like our own best."
I love this quote. It is so true! It is a perfect example of what Anne might have been feeling at being persuaded by others as to what she should do with her life.

It's a good read but if you look at the big picture you'd have to start with the first book (or watch the movies :D) to know whats going on. but once you get there theres no stopping you to reading this one.
Dumbledore (the princible of the school) is bringing harry in for secret lessons which will help him defeat voldemort (the bad guy). but in all this theres abunch of crushes and love potions and drama going on in the school (now that everybody in the book is turning 16). later in the book after some of these secret lessons, harry finds out that he needs to find 7 horcruxes. once they find all 7 they can finally defeat voldemort. this is the new main focus on what they spend most of their time with in the rest of the book.
I rated it ***. although this book was entertaining, it didnt really explode with perfect ness like how other people say it does. im more of a mystery deseption kind of reader. its a great book. This author sure knows how to write well and how to grab peoples attention. but im just more in to other kinds of books.
i really liked the part where harry pretended to give ron the luck potion and everyone thought he was cheating with luck potion but it was just his good attitude that made a difference and harry is giving hermionie a lecture about attitude
(i cant get a passage cause i dont have the book)

This book is great for anyone who loves and enjoys adventure. It is a fiction book with constant action that will keep you wide awake throughout the entire book. This book has references both to the bible and the book of Mormon. I recommend this to everyone but especially to young adults who are Mormon.
This story is about a young man named Jim Hawkins. He is always getting himself in fights and good at getting himself into trouble. Garth Plimpton is the complete opposite, he is the ideal kid who does the best in everything he does. After meeting each other Garth convinces Jim to ride up and explore a cave in the mountains of Wyoming. When the got to the cave they noticed Jim's little sister Jennifer had been following them the whole way. They decide to let her in on the adventure and all three started to investigate the cave. In the middle of the dark cave they find a secret room with every color of light bouncing off of the walls from absolutely no where. The earth states shaking and the next thing they can remember they are lying on the ground in a jungle like scene entirely different of Wyoming. They meet up with people like Captain Helaman and come to realize they are in the time of 67 BC!
This book is one of the most popular LDS novels ever written. Nine books in this series all come from this first book. It starts out with Jim getting into fights and through his experiences his life is completely changed. Jim and Garth spend over half of the book trying to rescues Jim's little sister. Together along with the Nephites the fight many wars together. They are constantly in danger and always have to be fully aware of their surroundings. They learn how to fight with a sword and shoot with a bow and arrow. This book is enjoyed by people of all ages both LDS and non LDS.
"They really existed once, you know."
"Who?" Jim asked.
"Nephites," Garth replied. "Every character in the Book of Mormon ate, slept, died, and was buried." -Chapter 1
This was said at the very beginning of the book while they were in the cave. They rest of the book and the entire series is based on this passage.
