W ou le Souvenir D'enface by Geroges Perec

Although I have not yet finished this book, I am finding it cumbersome and droll. So far the plot has been slightly muddled, riddled with obscure memories of a childhood that was lost because of World War II and the author's loss of his parents in the Holocaust. The chapters alternate between two identities, one more interesting than the other. However, once part 2 has begun, the more interesting identity vanishes into a very precise description of a desolate island.
Overall I would not recommend this novel, especially for beginners in French Literature. I have been reading novels in French for 2 years, and this is definitely a challenge for me.
