These are not books, but rather plays. Both empower women. If you want to read a shorter piece, go for Trifles by Susan Glaspell. If you want to read something that was performed for the first and last time at BYU-Idaho about 25 years ago (but was immediately banned from the school after people threatened to close the school's theatre department), read A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen. If you want the full feminist experience, read both! Get a friend to read them with you and you will have incredible intellectual conversations.
Impress you grandma. Read these plays.
